We are proud to have participated in our first World AIDS Day commemoration and to contribute to the national preparations for the launch of long-acting injectable Lenacapavir in Zambia, a significant milestone for HIV prevention programming.
Our work spanned across community preparation, engagement of media personnel, training of healthcare providers and mobilizers, as well as the development and adaptation of IEC materials to support the successful rollout of Lenacapavir in Zambia.
The event, officiated by the Hon. Minister of Health and attended by partners, civil society organisations, youth and community members, marked an important step in expanding HIV prevention choices and strengthening Zambia’s response to new HIV infections.
Aligned with the global theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response,” this moment arrives at a time when HIV programming faces unprecedented challenges. Despite this, the commitment from the Government of Zambia, stakeholders, donors, implementing partners and the community remains strong in ensuring access to safe, effective and person-centred HIV prevention options is guaranteed in Zambia.
We extend gratitude to our generous donor, AIDS Vaccine Coalition (AVAC), for their unwavering support and commitment throughout the preparation and final launch of Lenacapavir. Your continued investment in innovation, evidence generation, and community-centred HIV prevention efforts made this milestone possible. Thank you for believing in our work, strengthening our capacity, and championing expanded prevention choices for communities in Zambia.
Remember!!!!!! PrEP for You. PrEP for Me. PrEP for Us — Together for Choice.
